That's just what I thought Uncle but tbh most of them looked like they had a hangover, there was a great cross across the goal and Carroll only had to run 6 foot to poke it in but couldn't be arsed

Just to go back to the OP, with the Sakho injury issues, the probable departure of Zarate, and the questionable form of Valencia, I think any talk of Carroll leaving imminently is probably out.
It does sound very much as if he is settled in the London area now. We may simply be stuck with him regardless for the next 4 and a half years. I doubt anyone else will match his wages, that's for sure. I don't think he's a bad player or anything, but that is a very depressing prospect.

What I really like about the small band of people trying to justify letting zarate go are sometimes the same people trying to justify playing Andy Carroll and defending him.
Zarate has barely been given a chance.
Carroll has had 2.5 seasons and only had half a good season at Newcastle.
Yet we keep hearing " give Andy time", " he's playing well", " he's got so much more to his game than scoring goals"
But then with zarate people are willing to see someone go without being given a real chance.

Does make you wonder with those two lengthy spells on the sidelines through injuries, what effect they are now having on his performance.
Just as he left the pitch as he went into the pit the other day, his ankles were all over the place and nearly injured himself there.
My preference, aside the above, sorry but I just don't like seeing him in a West Ham shirt and that long ball played up to him.

You make some fair points regarding Carroll but you'being a bit harsh, you have to remember Crossy was a bit of jouneyman with about 4 clubs before joining at about 27 -28. In his first season he only scored 9 goals.
I do know he won the Golden Boot Award in 80-81 whilst we were in the then second Div.He certainly matured with us and was one of my all time favourites.Carroll could still be as good.

Unless of course he's been told where to place himself by Allardyce, although that would not make sense seeing as we have Sheringham supposedly involved. I couldn't understand why Carroll was deep in midfield so much.
